Ever thought that too much pleasure can actually hinder a person from reaching their goals? Follow this week to learn about different Jewish examples of balancing pleasure.

Entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk, write that “without hustle, talent will only carry you so far.” How do you decide what is important? What methods do you use to measure how you are doing?

The lesson that we can take from this idea is that while we are hustling and putting everything into our future, we still need to find that balance to take care of our selfs, have some fun and enjoy life. Muhammad Ali is quoted saying that “he who is not courageous enough to take risks will accomplish nothing in life.”

Rabbi Abraham Issaac Kook wrote that “Great is our physical demand. We need a healthy body. We dealt much with soulfulness; we forgot the holiness of the body. We neglected the physical health and strength; we forgot that we have holy flesh; no less than holy spirit…” He continues: “Our teshuva (repentance) will succeed only if it will be–with all its splendid spirituality–also a physical return, which produces healthy blood, healthy flesh, mighty solid bodies, a fiery spirit radiating over powerful muscles…”

We all need to have the courage to find balance. I would love to hear your thoughts on the subject and learn from your experience. Please take moment to share your thoughts in the comments below.
